Geotest Introduces a New 6U PXI Chassis
WESCON, Anaheim, CA. - Geotest - MTS, a Marvin Group company, today announced the introduction of the GX7000, a 20-slot, 6U PXI chassis.
"With the coming-of-age of the 6U PXI form factor, PXI is becoming a standard platform for test applications," said Loofie Gutterman, Geotest's Chief Operating Officer, "The 3U PXI form factor had a limited use in Automatic Test Applications due to the complexity and size of the instruments. The 6U form factor however provides the necessary 'real-estate' required to support high-end test applications and successfully compete with VXI and GPIB instrumentation."
The GX7000 is a 6U, 19" PXI chassis available in both desktop and rack-mount configurations. The GX7000 is based on the CompactPCI and PXI standards and accommodates up to 19 3U or 6U PXI or cPCI instruments. Slot 1 is dedicated for an embedded controller or for a MXI-3 receiver, Slot 2 can be used by a PXI Star Trigger Controller or by a PXI/cPCI instrument, Slots 3 through 15 provide Star Trigger and, and Slots 16-20 accommodate PXI or cPCI instruments without the Star Trigger.
The GX7000 provides an integral 10MHz PXI clock, 2 250W power supplies, and optional front-door connector interfaces for different UUT/ITA configurations.
The GX7000 and other PXI products introduced by Geotest were developed as a result of a growing demand for low-cost, high-performance alternatives to VXI and rack instrumentation. Geotest also offers a wide range of PXI instruments including high-speed digital I/O, ROM emulators and switching.
Availability: Product shipment for the GX7000 is scheduled for Q4 2000.
