Geotest Wins Contract to Provide Test Systems for Philip Morris
Irvine, CA (September 25, 2002) – Geotest-Marvin Test Systems, Inc., a global supplier of electronic test equipment for aerospace, semiconductors, telecom, medical, industrial and military applications, announced its recent contract award from Philip Morris to develop and produce board testers for its equipment repair facility in Richmond, VA.
Geotest will provide two TS-305 test systems, which consist of the latest state-of-the-art PXI (PCI eXtensions for Instrumentation) technology including hardware, software, system integration, design, programming, setup and training. The TS-305 is used to test and repair digital boards and is a direct replacement for Philip Morris’ obsolete test systems that were produced by Summation and later Fluke. The obsolete systems included a proprietary card cage controlled by the Summation Spectrum software, which is also obsolete.
"Philip Morris chose Geotest because our TS-305 tester offer specifications that are the same or better to those offered by the Summation products. Also, our award-winning ATEasy test development software and test executive can easily replace Spectrum-based systems as they have a similar structure, which makes the migration process even easier," said Loofie Gutterman, Geotest president.
PXI was developed to bridge the gap between desktop PC systems and high-end VXI and GPIB systems. With its high performance, modular architecture, ruggedness and low cost, PXI is the choice platform for many test and measurement applications.
